CONVERSIONS

There are many options available to you.

We prefer to complete your loft conversion so that all you have to do is decorate it at your leisure.  We will ensure that the building control officer has approved the work and has provided you with a completion certificate.

Occasionally our customers ask if we can complete the structural work leaving the finishing for them to do.  We call this a 'shell only' build and the amount of work that we do is determined by your level of skill, knowledge and confidence to complete the remainder of the work.

We will also be happy to arrange for the complete decoration of your loft conversion, including new carpets or flooring if you wish.  It all depends on your individual circumstances, your budget and your enthusiasm for DIY!  Whatever you ask us to do though, we can assure your complete satisfaction.

The rest of this page gives a brief introduction to the various types of loft conversion available.  Follow the links to see more photos.

Velux Roof Light Conversion

Many homes are originally built with more than enough loft space for us to create ample rooms with sufficient headroom.

If a loft can be converted into living space without the need for building dormers, we call this a Velux or roof light conversion.

Velux conversions do not normally require planning permission unless you live in a conservation area, or your property is a listed building.

  Dormer Conversion

To gain extra headroom we can build extensions on your roof in the form of dormer windows.  We call this a dormer conversion.  Dormers can be constructed in all shapes and sizes, with many different designs of roof to choose from.

Take a look at our dormer page to see some examples.

There is more work involved in constructing a dormer conversion and we may require planning permission from your local authority, therefore the cost is slightly higher than a Velux conversion.

Hip to Gable
This is an ideal solution for properties with hipped roofs.

We will extend the ridge and build up the gable wall to form your loft conversion.

This type of conversion usually provides exceptional floor space as hipped roof properties tend to have a very high ridge, 10 to 15 feet in many cases.
